Oxford, AL to Celebrate 174th Anniversary with Special Event
On February 24, 2026, the City of Oxford will host a special celebration to mark its 174th anniversary at Oxford City Hall. The festivities will kick off at 5 p.m., just before the regular City Council meeting. Organized and sponsored by the Oxford Arts Council, the event promises to be a festive occasion complete with refreshments for attendees.
A highlight of the evening will be a patriotic musical performance by the Oxford High School Choir, aiming to honor the city’s rich heritage and instill community pride. In addition, the event will introduce the inaugural “Oxford At Its Best” community service awards, which celebrate individuals and organizations dedicated to improving the lives of Oxford residents. Each year, three awards will be given: one to a citizen or organization, one to a business, and one to an employee for their exemplary commitment to the community.
