Choccolocco Park to Host Record-Breaking Greenpower USA Green Prix
Choccolocco Park is gearing up for a thrilling day as it hosts the Greenpower USA Green Prix on Friday, Nov. 7. The event is set to welcome over 600 students from various schools across the region, showcasing a record turnout of 62 registered teams this year. The Green Prix is part of the national Greenpower USA initiative, which engages students in grades six through 12 in engineering challenges, prompting them to design, build, and race electric cars in the F24 category.
The day will commence with team arrivals at 7 a.m., followed by necessary safety and technical inspections. Racing kicks off at 9 a.m., starting with heats for intermediate teams and running through four heats total. The competitive action will culminate in an awards ceremony scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
Spectators are welcome to attend for free, though there is a $5 parking fee. Organizers are encouraging attendees to arrive early to enjoy the full range of races.
