SCLC Announces Full Schedule for MLK Unity Day in Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosa to Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Legacy with Unity Day Events
The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) – Tuscaloosa County Chapter will commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Day on January 19 with a series of events aimed at honoring King’s legacy and promoting community togetherness.
The day will kick off with the MLK Unity Day Breakfast at 8 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church, located at 3100 25th Street in Tuscaloosa. Participants can reserve VIP tables for $250 or purchase general seating tickets for $25, with limited availability through SCLC members.
Following the breakfast, the community will gather for the annual MLK Unity March, beginning at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School at 11:30 a.m. The march will proceed to Tuscaloosa City Hall, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of unity and collective purpose in honoring Dr. King’s vision.
The day’s events will culminate with a mass rally at 5 p.m. at the historic First African Baptist Church at 2621 Stillman Blvd. This rally will engage attendees in discussions of service, progress, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.
