See who made the ASWA All-State football team for 2024
In a standout year for Alabama high school football, five players from Class 7A champion Thompson and four from 6A champion Parker were named to the first-team All-State roster by the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) for 2024. The ASWA prep committee chose first and second teams along with honorable mentions for various positions based on nominations from high school coaches statewide.
Thompson’s talented first-team includes quarterback Trent Seaborn, defensive back Anquon Fegans, defensive lineman Jared Smith, offensive lineman Barron Criddle, and punter John McGuire. In contrast, Parker’s representation on the first team is entirely defensive, featuring defensive linemen Jourdin Crawford and Robert Taylor III, alongside defensive backs Na’eem Offord and Timothy Merritt.
Three finalists from each AHSAA classification, including the AISA, will be revealed on Christmas Day, with the winners announced at the annual Player of the Year Banquet in Montgomery on January 28, 2024.
Additionally, various Class and honorable mention teams were selected, showcasing the depth of talent across Alabama, exemplified by notable names like KJ Lacey (Class 6A) and Gunner Rivers (Class 4A). The ASWA recognitions reflect the impressive skills and dedication exhibited throughout the season, honoring athletes for their contributions on the field. Coach awards also highlight the exceptional leadership guiding these teams, with Kirk Johnson of Montgomery Catholic and Drew Phillips of West Morgan receiving accolades in their respective classes.
