Shootout in Gadsden: Officer and Suspect Injured During Search Warrant Execution
ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. – A member of the Etowah County Joint Special Operations Group (JSOG) was injured during a shootout on Thursday morning, occurring on Eastview Avenue in Gadsden. Authorities were in the process of executing a search warrant when they were met with gunfire. The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Brandon Jackson, was also shot during the incident.
In addition to the JSOG member, a second officer sustained injuries but was treated at the scene. Both individuals, along with Jackson, received medical attention at local hospitals and are currently in stable condition, according to updates provided by authorities.
Etowah County Sheriff Jonathon Horton praised the bravery and commitment of the JSOG team, stating, “Our members faced an incredibly dangerous situation today with courage and skill.” He expressed relief that the injured deputy is expected to recover.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation is leading the ongoing investigation. Once completed, the findings will be forwarded to the Etowah County District Attorney’s Office for further action. Currently, details remain scarce while the investigation is underway.
