James Clemens Secures Baseball Victory Over Huntsville at Toyota Field
In a tightly-contested high school baseball matchup, James Clemens erupted for four runs in the fifth inning, securing a 6-3 win over Huntsville on Saturday at Toyota Field in Madison. Huntsville initially took the lead in the first inning, with Alex Cothren scoring after a single and stolen base, followed by an RBI from Steven Cavaco. Cothren went 3-for-4 while Cavaco, an Ohio State signee, finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
James Clemens quickly responded, scoring two runs in the second inning, with Devier Ramos driving a key hit. Huntsville equalized in the fourth through Dylan Duster’s RBI. However, the Jets seized control with Ian Berry’s lead-off home run in the fifth, bolstered by further scores, bringing the game to 6-2. Cavaco added a final RBI for Huntsville to round the score.
Mark Drinkwater claimed the win on the mound for James Clemens, allowing two earned runs and striking out five. He also contributed offensively with a 2-for-4 performance. The Jets had split a doubleheader against Sparkman the previous day, winning 5-0 in the first game before losing 8-4 in the second.
