Stillman College Softball Wins Conference Regular Season Title
Stillman College Clinches First HBCU Athletic Conference Softball Championship
TUSCALOOSA, AL — Stillman College celebrated its victory as the 2025 HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) regular season softball champions over the weekend, completing a three-game sweep at Dillard University. This win also signifies Stillman’s triumph as the first-ever champions in the HBCUAC’s inaugural season sponsoring the sport.
“I’m super proud of our team being regular season champs. That was our first goal,” expressed head coach Joel Penfield, emphasizing the team’s focus on taking each game one at a time. He noted their consistent improvement throughout the season and expressed excitement for the upcoming conference tournament.
The Tigers’ strong performance at Dillard showcased impressive individual contributions, particularly from Alabaster native Lauren Haskins, who excelled at the plate, and pitcher Jasmine Wade from Harvest, who contributed with a win and a save.
As the season progresses, Stillman College is set to face Rust College in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Following that, the team will head to the United States Sports Academy, culminating with an important HBCUAC series against Oakwood University on April 5-6.
