Chase Sexton Triumphs at Birmingham Supercross, Closes Points Gap in Title Chase
Birmingham, Ala., (March 23, 2025) – The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship returned after a two-week hiatus, with Red Bull KTM’s Chase Sexton claiming victory in the Birmingham Supercross, showcasing stellar (1-1-2) finishes in the intense Triple Crown event format. Sexton’s performance not only secured him the win but also narrowed his points deficit from 15 to just 8 in the championship standings, amidst fierce competition.
Riding through pain after a crash in qualifying, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Malcolm Stewart finished second overall with (3-2-3) results, crediting his team for their support. Aaron Plessinger added to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s success by securing third place with (2-3-5) finishes. Cooper Webb also had a notable night, achieving a (7-4-1) finish, though he expressed disappointment over a first-lap crash affecting his overall performance.
In the 250SX Class, Monster Energy Yamaha’s Nate Thrasher emerged as the overall winner, marking the fifth different victor in as many rounds this season, a feat not seen in this division since 2016. Thrasher’s consistent finishes of (3-3-2) earned him the top spot, while RJ Hampshire and Tom Vialle followed, finishing second and third, respectively.
