Tuscaloosa Academy’s Stokajovic named Class 2A player of the year | Alabama
Tuscaloosa Academy’s Danilo Stojakovic has been honored as the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A boys basketball player of the year, a testament to his remarkable impact on the Knights’ program. The award was presented during the ASWA banquet at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel. Stojakovic, who hails from Belgrade, Serbia, made a significant impression since moving to the U.S. two years ago. In his senior season, he recorded an impressive total of 1,015 points and led the team to a commendable second place in the 2025 state championship.
As a guard, Stojakovic’s performance fluctuated around an impressive average of 25.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. During the state championship game, he stood out with 21 points, six assists, and five rebounds, earning a spot on the all-tournament team. Stojakovic’s achievements have made him the 10th player from Tuscaloosa Academy and the sixth boy to receive the state player of the year accolade. Coaches Luke Hutcheson and Emmett Thomas were present to celebrate Stojakovic’s accomplishments at the award ceremony, reflecting the impact and legacy he leaves behind in the program.
