Tuscaloosa Oktoberfest Planned in New Spot During Bye Week
Tuscaloosa Oktoberfest Returns to Downtown: Celebration of Culture and Community
The beloved Tuscaloosa Oktoberfest, a lively celebration of German culture and a fan-favorite 5K event, is set to return on September 20th at the new downtown Government Plaza location. This year’s festival, organized for the third consecutive time by Visit Tuscaloosa, coincides with an Alabama Football bye week, promising a festive atmosphere for fans.
Running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event will feature a 5K race and a 1K children’s race, with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society and the Ronald McDonald House. Attendees can enjoy live music, delicious German food from various vendors, and engaging activities such as the Dachshund Dash, a Dog Costume Contest, and a Stein-Hoisting Competition.
Kelsey Rush, President and CEO of Visit Tuscaloosa, expresses enthusiasm about the festival’s growth and community participation, underlining the outstanding partnerships with sponsors like UA Online and Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc. General admission to the event is free, though those wishing to purchase beer will need to buy a commemorative stein for $10.
Participants can register for the 5k for $45, which includes a T-shirt and beer, while the children’s 1K costs $25. VIP experiences are also available for $75, which grant access to exclusive offerings and amenities. For more details and ticket purchases, visit TuscaloosaOktoberfest.com.
