Alexandria Athletes Shine in Mass Signing Ceremony
For the second consecutive year, Alexandria High School athletes celebrated their achievements during a mass signing ceremony at Larry R. Ginn Gymnasium, showcasing a commitment to continue their sports careers at the collegiate level. Eight athletes signed on Tuesday, including key Division I athletes Bray Goode and Eryn Spradley, alongside four volleyball players: McKinley Cooper, Cassidy Hartsfield, Kaden Pritchett, and Pressley Slaton. Goode recently led the baseball team to its first state championship, overcoming injury challenges to secure his spot at the University of South Alabama.
Spradley, a standout volleyball player with an impressive 1,723 career kills, credits the support of her coaches for her success, highlighting the school’s strong athletic reputation. "It’s just a great place to be, athletic-wise," she remarked, reflecting on the tradition of excellence nurtured at Alexandria.
Coach Whitney Welch expressed pride in her athletes, emphasizing the hardworking nature and character they embody. The event drew a sizable crowd and followed last year’s ceremony, which featured nine athletes. Upcoming signings may include undecided football kicker Cleat Forrest, further bolstering the school’s athletic accolades.
As Alexandria continues to produce talented athletes, this year’s ceremony reaffirmed the community’s dedication to fostering sportsmanship and teamwork, setting the stage for future successes. The event encapsulated not just individual accomplishments but the collective spirit that defines Alexandria’s athletics.
