Whataburger closing Auburn, Tuscaloosa locations
Whataburger Announces Closures of Alabama Locations Amid Business Review
In a recent announcement, Texas-based burger chain Whataburger revealed plans to close two of its Alabama restaurants located in Tuscaloosa and Auburn. The closures, which follow a routine business assessment, will affect the downtown Auburn location and one of the three Tuscaloosa outlets at 1130 University Blvd. The Tuscaloosa restaurant opened in 2023, while the Auburn location has been serving customers since 2021.
A Whataburger representative stated that current team members at these locations will receive support, with options to transfer to nearby restaurants. Specifically, employees from the Auburn location will have the opportunity to move to the Opelika restaurant, while those in Tuscaloosa can transfer to either of the other two remaining locations in the city.
The decision, according to the spokesperson, aims to concentrate the company’s efforts in areas where they can create a more significant impact, ultimately ensuring that guests continue to enjoy the high-quality food and genuine hospitality associated with Whataburger. As the burger chain operates in 17 states, this move illustrates its strategy to refine its operations and maintain customer satisfaction in its remaining establishments. College students in the area may feel the impact of these closures, but with nearby locations still available, their cravings for Whataburger can be satisfied without much disruption.
