Women’s Basketball Set to Battle Alabama in Tuscaloosa – Ole Miss Athletics
Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Faces Alabama in Crucial SEC Matchup
OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 13/14 Ole Miss women’s basketball team is set to continue its road campaign, facing No. 21/23 Alabama on February 5 in Tuscaloosa. This marks their fourth consecutive game away from home, with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m. CT and coverage available on the SEC Network.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, who is in her eighth season with the Rebels, Ole Miss boasts a 19-4 record and a 6-2 mark in SEC play. The Rebels maintain a historical edge over the Crimson Tide, leading the series 38-29, though Alabama won their last encounter, 84-78, in Oxford last season.
Alabama, headlined by Coach Kristy Curry, enters the matchup with an identical 19-4 record and a 5-4 SEC standing. The Crimson Tide are known for their formidable offense, averaging 71.8 points per game, aided by standout players like Jessica Timmons and Karly Weathers.
Ole Miss comes off a commanding 71-45 victory over Auburn, highlighting their robust defense by allowing the fewest points they have against an SEC foe this season. A winter storm recently disrupted the Rebels’ schedule, leading to multiple away games, but they remain focused on the postseason, rallying together for their community.
With a strong season in progress, Ole Miss looks to extend its recent success while aiming for its first home game since January 11 against Arkansas on February 12.
